"Rejection!" whispers every breeze.
"Rejection!" echoes through the trees.
Frustration, fear were at your door.
Hope and joy, you saw no more.
You'd tried so hard to work your plan.
You wanted so to be a man.
Yet desperate now, you sought the sky.
You hated earth. You knew not why.
And all alone you felt great pain.
You had no will to try again.
You parked your car near hill so tall,
And bailed you out, good clothes and all.
Fast.. up... you went--anger driven.
Up recklessly..toward the Heaven.
Self-worth was low, you knew not why,
But wanted desperately to cry.
And when at last your breath's no more,
You turned and looked at valley floor.
Beneath your feet across the view -
Was smog and smut all mixed with dew.
The thick soft bank concealed the scene-
Of all that had made you so mean.
Around you air was clean and clear.
The view was better from up here!
You sat a spell to contemplate.
You'd been engulfed in that poor state.
Down there, the bank-you could not see.
Up here, it focused --easily.
My son, no wonder Eagles catch-
The moving winds and upward drafts,
Above the evil and the smut-
Above those stuck within a rut.
Tis' hard to want to be a part-
Of all those friends within your heart,
And yet be different in their eyes-
Because your freedom's in the skies.
The difference you were born to know.
That's why rejection hurts you so.
And as you age, you'll ease the wrath-
As you see others walk that path.
My prayer for you will always be-
That you will know divinity.
And when discouragement resides-
Please park and climb, and find the skies-
For then God's vision you will share-
Of all you are. Then you won't care--when
"Rejection" is whispered by the breeze, and
"Rejection" is echoed through the trees.
